Tenth Colloquium of the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law

Deadline for submissions: May 15, 2012

Awards to Be Presented at the Colloquium on July 3, 2012

As announced last July during the closing ceremonies of the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law Colloquium in South Africa, the 2012 Tenth Colloquium at the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law will be hosting an international environmental film festival.

The festival will feature short films (less than 10 minutes in length) made by faculty or students on any environmental topic. For the last decade Maryland’s Environmental Law Program has been encouraging students to learn how to make films on environmental topics. We are hoping at the Colloquium event to have students from all over the world join us in contributing short films. To submit your film for the Academy International Short Film Festival, please adhere to the following guidelines. Each film must be no longer than 10 minutes in length. The films can be on any environmental topic of your choosing.

The preferred method for delivering your film to us is to post it on your own You Tube account and send us a link to it along with permission to upload the film to the channel we are establishing for the festival. Students and faculty in countries without access to You Tube may consult with us about alternative delivery methods. All films submitted by the May 15, 2012 deadline will be reviewed by a panel of judges. Prizes will be awarded in several categories on July 3, 2012 when the films will be shown at the Colloquium.

Film links should be submitted to: Jill Smith, Research and Instructional Technology Librarian, Thurgood Marshall Law Library, University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law, 501 West Fayette St., Baltimore, Maryland 21201 at: jasmith@law.umaryland.edu. Special thanks to Joel and Ellen Fedder for sponsoring this event."
